So long, 2009

It's been good. This year will be memorable for many reasons. Hope it was great for you. There were joyful times and there were times of heartache. But we stay optimistic. Sometimes I can't help but to feel a little sadness when the year ends. You think about all the things that happened in that year and what you will always remember. But when the new year rolls around I feel more happiness because of what may come soon and the more memories you will continue to share with the people close to you in life. A fresh start can always bring good things. So have fun, be safe and drink some champagne for us. We'll see you in 2010!

Much love,

what a crazy year

And a crazy decade none the less.. So many historical events and nightmares. And so much in 2009. All the celebrity deaths and scandals. I wonder how many jokes have been written about Tiger Woods already haha. People will forget about his scandal in a month..maybe 2. The media LOVES to tear apart these celebrities who have maintained a squeaky clean image. Everyone gets caught sometime!

Well we're excited to go out with a bang this year at our December 23rd show in Oldwick. We know you'll all be there, but be sure to get your tickets! It'll be fun and we'll be ragin it up. So come on out and rage with us

Much love,

-Sean

what does this look like to you?

This is so amazing that we had to write a blog about it haha.. On the infamous golf cart there is a smudge on the right side fender (if you call it) and it looks like a knight ready to joust or ready to battle with the shape of a heart next to it. Or it looks like a samuri warior with his head to the left (his right) side who has a long beard. Yes we examined it very closely haha check it out. The picture doesn't really do it justice but you find art in the strangest places!

National Geographic

If you're ever around a book store, magazine stand or anywhere that might sell a National Geographic magazine definitely pick one up. They have many interesting topics about the world such as the environment, biology, religion, human history and anthropological studies, astronomy and many other scientic fields, and social studies and issues which is something I always like to read and learn about. The pictures in the magazine are also very impressive. I found some pics from their website and on the internet which are some examples of what the magazine portrays. Check it out.

damn you big blue

I was all excited for thanksgiving, the food seeing family and especially t os the giants game. I understand that the broncos are a good team but we didn't even put up a fight. we looked like a pee wee football team getting a total 30 offensive yards in the first half. I can't even name a player who actually did really well. and we need to get rid of gilbride. he does the same monotonous plays that our opponents are expecting. not only that but the plays are always so simple making it even easier. I guess there is always next year

Album Review by Black Velvet Magazine

Last week it was brought to our attention that Black Velvet Magazine had done a review of our album, "An Atlas To Solutions", in this month's issue. They're based out of the U.K. (England), so it's cool to see a European publication do a write up on us. The cover and the page with the review is below. The review is at the top right of the page.

New Album Review!

We are always ready to take constructive criticism because it's the only way anyone can improve any skill. In fact, I'm always hard on myself upon writing and what not. It's not that I feel what we write is bad at all, it's just that I know we can always do better. This latest review is always good to see. Whether he was exaggerating by not defining any weaknesses, or being honest, it's much appreciated. So check it out: http://www.musesmuse.com/mrev-offateandchance-anatlas.html -Ryan

OFAC Memories Pt. 1

Back in May we played a show in a part of Jersey that we had never been to before. Needless to say, they didn't have enough mic stands for the entire band so we made a stand that we will never forget. The patent is pending...

Atlantic City: Gambling Our Lives Away

I'm usually never a spontaneous person. As unorganized as I am, I like things planned. I like to know what I have to do to prepare myself. The last thing in the world I want to do is find myself in a situation where I tell myself "I knew I should have done this or that". But lately I've been doin things on impulse and so far I'm enjoying it. I went to Atlantic city this weekend and it was pretty much my first time there. I was there on a family vacation years ago but right when we got there I hit my head and had to get stitches. Needless to say I couldn't enjoy it. What I'm really happy to say is I didn't end up gambling anything. I knew that if I started I probably would have lost a lot of money. Have to say one of the greatest things I saw there was this older woman (around 70 maybe older) at the club ON the dance floor and just loving it. There was also this suited up guy with one leg tearing it up. Living life to the fullest, that's how to do it. Good times, I hope to go there again in the future. Maybe this time lose some money haha.

November and so on

What up brethrens

Hope your Halloween was wunderbar! Are you ready for some Turkey?

We have another show coming up later this month in Secaucus, NJ @ The Blue Room. You may want to come out because we don't know how many more shows we will be playing for the rest of this year. And we may even be occupied in the studio for the beginning months of 2010, but I'm getting ahead of myself!

The new songs are coming along swimmingly and we can't wait to show you them. We may even play one at our next show. Also, for the new year, we're looking to set up another big show (along the lines of our CD Release) and set up another bus service. It's a little while away until we do that but get ready for another wild bus ride when we call ya! :)

More updates to come

The Yanks did it!

Here comes the World Series! As I said before I'm not the biggest baseball fan (or as I like to call it the million dollar relay race) but this is very exciting. Now I know why everyone goes crazy when a team they like makes it to a champsionship. I'm sure Ryan and Fleck enjoyed the game last night haha

So I went to the city this weekend to promote OFAC at CMJ. It was LOVELY weather to say the least...rain, rain, rain, rain. Wet feet, wet clothes, wet jacket, wet everything. But when I'm in NYC I don't mind roughin it a bit, it's more exciting and adventurous that way. I went to a bunch of different venues, talked to strangers and handed out a bunch of CDs. It was actually more fun than I expected it to be. And a lot of the venues were really cool; Might look into playing at some of them.

On the agenda for this weekend is a show @ CRASH MANSION in NYC. Come on out, drink a beer, and enjoy some fun live music. We shred @ 10:30pm

More updates to come,

-Sean

CMJ This weekend

Not sure if I'll be going personally, but I know the others will. If anyone else is going, try to spot us and you'll get a free sampler of our two songs "An Atlas To Solutions" and "When She Needed Arms". We'll be promoting there for our show coming up at the Crash Mansion on Nov 1st with Waking Amelia and a few others. So everyone come out to that show if you can.

Watching the Steve Wilkos show now, fucking scumbags make me thank God I'm not like these people. I honestly think there should be a screening process before people are allowed to have children. Kids do not deserve these kinds of parents.

Currently listening to

New Paramore album and Passion Pit. Holy shit what great albums. Have to say Paramore's first single off of "Brand New Eyes" is one of my least favorite. Still a good song though. Yea it's still typical Paramore, not much growth or variety, but it's not like what they've been doing is failing them. Passion Pit was just introduced to me. I kind of lied, theirs isn't the greatest album, but still some good indie-pop. Coincidentally their latest single "Little Secrets" is my favorite song on the cd. I feel I will, however, get sick of it soon. As for the rest of the songs, they may not have grown on me just yet. I dig em though. Lastly, just got the sickest phone ever. The HTC Imagio. It does everything, from phone calls to locating Jimmy Hoffa's body. Hasn't found him yet, but it will. -Ryan

Beat Up By A Robot

How can anyone go wrong with fall? You have Football, MLB playoffs, cold weather, beautiful atmosphere and scarves. I can't stand sweating and these summers have been humid as fuck. Especially Jersey. Anyway it's been awhile since I've said anything on here ever since I changed my job. I control and program these two robotic welding arms and one hit me in the head today which sucked. Other than that it's been okay. Nothing ever goes according to plan, but whatever. I think I'll get it somewhat going pretty soon. I guess having a great weekend just leads to a bad week? Because a lot of shit has been going wrong everyday this week. Can't wait to just get to the weekend already. So the Yanks are up 3 games to 1 against the Angels which I'm stoked about, but the Giants got dominated on sunday. So embarrassing, wtf guys. On the music side of things we have just been writing a lot and playing shows. Working some awesome things for next year as well. I want to thank all of our street teamers who have been so enthusiastic about getting our music out there. Keep it up ladies and gents. -Ryan

I Disagree

To what Sean just said. Football season started and ITS AWESOME. The fuckin Giants are looking tight and consistent. And I'm lovin Eli's stats. Next week is the Raiders, kinda gettin bored of these no challenge games. But after that I'm stoked to see how we do against the Saints. How I love teh fall. Oh and I am now officially a Robotics Operator, awesome -Ryan

It's been...

A few days since we wrote one of these things. Just the daily grind has been taking up a lot of time and being sick doesn't help much. There are always a lot of things going on in the world that can be talked about. Football season started and I don't care...next song, NEXT song haha. I'm not a huge baseball fan but it seems like the Yankees are doing really well. I think another world championship is in order. David Letterman isn't as squeaky clean as the public saw him to be, but I don't really care about that either. Sex scandals are boring to me; It's cliche and everyday people cheat on their spouses. It's only when a famous person or public figure does it that it becomes controversial, but they're just as immoral as the next person so don't be surprised people! haha I haven't really been keeping up with the social issues in the world for the past few weeks, so I'm sure you can enlighten me on some subjects. I guess I'm just ranting right now but I thought I would let you all know that we're still alive and kicking :)

Much love everyone,

-Sean

Phew!

Days are long and getting colder. I have been getting a little sick lately which makes the day go much slower and more unbearable. I know it'll pass soon and hopefully that uncomfortable, fuzzy sensation in my throat will clear. It's sucks being overly conscious about you're throat when you're a singer because you want to feel good (physically) everyday. And mentally...When I think about it too much it ends up ruining me. So in a way I have to not care or think about how it feels that day and work over the humps so to speak. But it is my voice and I still have to take care of it. I'm sure some of you have heard me say this before but the voice is not like a guitar or a piano in the way that when you break a string on those instruments you can just put a new one on. With the voice, if you hurt something, you have to rest it...Or else you can do some damage. So you singers out there and everyone for that matter, TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODIES!

It was 40 years ago today...

September 26th, 1969... The U.K. release of "Abbey Road", by The Beatles, was released. It was the 11th official U.K. album and the 17th U.S. album released by the band. In my opinion it is definitely one of the Beatles best albums. Actually I take that back...Every album is great, from their earliest to their latest. But Sgt. Pepper's is still their masterpiece. "Abbey Road" has many great songs on it such as "Come Together", "You Never Give Me Your Money" and Harrison's songs such "Something" and "Here Comes The Sun". And that's just 4 songs of the 17 tracks. If you never gave the album a chance, take a listen now..you might just like it.

The Government Didn't Help

It's been awhile since I've been on here. But with the puppy, work and the band I wasn't even on a computer at any point in the day. Eventually I figured out that I didn't have time for the puppy and neither did anyone else in my family. We all loved him, but realized it would be better for him to find a family that could give him the attention he needs. So he's gone now, but will be getting everything he needs. Anyway, ever since I saw that video awhile ago about people texting and driving I figured out that the government is supposed to help prevent these problems. Personally, I also never agreed with banning talking on cell phones and driving. It's really the same as talking to someone in your passenger seat. And those who got into accidents who were on cell phones were most likely bad drivers anyway who made poor decisions. Or maybe it wasn't even their fault. Sometimes we have long drives where we may have to take an important call. But since its hard to hide talking on the phone we may ignore the call, or text the person because that is a lot easier to hide. I really think the government should reconsider this law about talking on cell phones and driving. It may eliminate a lot of texting and driving which is exponentially more dangerous. - Ryan

Step 1

What up brethrens,

Sean here just lettin ya know a little ditty about what's going on with OFAC. Like I said in the past few blogs we have been working very hard, especially with the business aspect of the band. But we have also been writing new songs which has been our main priority since the CD release show back in July. We're really looking to get some attention with these next few songs because as some of you may know we do have labels interested in us (but lets keep that on the DL for now). We're really stoked about these new songs. We know every year when we come out with new music we always say that but that's part of being in a band. It's always in a constant upward motion especially with song writing. We really believe that this will be our most mature material yet and we can't wait to even write another album (yes we have that much material). But like anything it is a process. It will take some time to polish these songs and it may even be some time until you hear these songs. But just think...we're making history right now just talking about it which is so exciting to me. But in the mean time we'll be continuing our DIY ethos as a band with playing shows and going fuckin wild on stage because we love to play music and create a good time for all of you.

More updates to come, stay cool everyone

-Sean

Long Days...

Always on the go! That's what it always seems to be. I don't have much time to write an insightful blog but I would just like to say that we are working very hard. We have a lot of things in the works for the band and we can't wait to let you all in on it. We're lining up some shows for the near future that we will let you know about, so stay tuned and keep checking our blogs or our Myspace for more updates.

Much love,

Thank god it's friday!

Wow, it's been over a day since we wrote one of these things! Maybe it's because we're busy as balls and haven't been able to write a new blog. It's been a long week and a very odd one at that. Many things have happened to all of us this week especially with me and my family. There has been good and bad, but for the most part we are staying extremely busy. We'll let you know more specifically of what we are up to and what the next step for OFAC is. But for now enjoy your weekend

Much love,

Very very odd day yesterday

So I'm still training my puppy and am doing an ok job. He can sit and will be quiet in his crate when I'm in the room. Some days I do regret getting him because of my busy schedule and his high maintenance, but other days he's really good. Last night was kind of scary though. Since he's a puppy he takes frequent naps, especially when it gets later. Me and the guys were watching Entourage and Wolfgang's head was against my chest. I tried waking him up because I didn't want him to be rowdy by the time I wanted him to sleep. He barely moved and his eyes seemed half open when I did this. I kept trying to wake him up gently but he just kind of fell over. Usually when this happens he'll wake right up, but this was definitely not normal. I rolled him over a little bit and saw that he pissed himself. Now I've trained him to a point when he would wake up and go outside, or at least come to me. I got him up a little bit and he was shaking and not moving very much. Micah told me that pomeranians need sodium if they have been active a lot throughout the day. I tried feeding him, but he wouldn't eat. Eventually he did eat the crackers I gave him and he was back to his normal self. And I jsut thought he was really tired. Did I mention Patrick Swayze died? Wtf?-Ryan

Monday!

What's up everyone. Did anyone see the VMA's last night? I didn't catch it, but it doesn't matter because MTV doesn't play music videos anymore, so I'm sure the videos wouldn't be familiar. Not to mention I hardly ever watch tv.

But it so happens that I was watching something else on tv last night. It was a movie with some of the best actors of our time; Catch Me If You Can with Leo D and Tom Hanks (everything he says is funny! haha) If you ever saw the movie, it's based on a true story about a kid who literally stole millions of dollars by creating phony checks (played by Leo Dicaprio) and Tom Hanks plays the FBI agent who tries to capture him. It's dramatic at times but the seriousness sometimes can come off as tongue-in-cheek which just shows how great of actors those two really are. Oh and not to mention that Christopher Walken is in it who's another living legend. It's amazing that there are people in the world who can just get away with pretty much anything. I feel like if I just ran a stop sign I would get caught haha well not really, but if you ever get to watching a movie sometime definitely check that one out.

Other great movies you should watch w/ the same actors: The Beach, Gangs of New York, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump and also check out Joe Dirt and Pulp Fiction. Walken is in both those movies

My days deal in extremes

Life IS a roller coaster. Lately everything has been in extremes. What I mean is that I either have an totally awesome day, or a reeeeally bad one. Yesterday at work wasn't so bad, but come band practice for some reason a lot of things were going wrong. And also I was worried about some personal stuff as well which could have been TERRIBLY bad, but I think that stuff is ok. Anyway, We've been writing new stuff and it has been sounding great, however there are so many small things in every song that we all have our own opinions about and eventually we keep changing the songs. This is obviously the nature of writing music. There are no Mozart's of the music world anymore. What I mean by that is that Mozart NEVER rewrote or corrected any of his music when he wrote it. He had one copy for every piece and it was the first and last copy he ever wrote. Not only is that just outrageous, but there are many other factors to consider in today's music world. So this is inevitable, but it gets very frustrating. I'm also still getting used to my new pup. I can't tell when he has to go to the bathroom. Some days he barely goes and some days he has to go every 40 minutes. This has led to many accidents which happened twice yesterday and really pissed me off. I was also tired since I was up since 5 having no time to relax until 10 pm. But today is a better day. I've got the pup in the crate and he isn't making a sound. And I just wrote a new song which I think may be the one we are looking for. I also actually got to sleep until 9 which was awesome.

I dare you to say he's not cute -Ryan

Thirsty Thursday

Man it's been a long week. We've been super productive and there is still so much more to be done! Ah! haha all it seems to be is work work work! But it feels good to get things done and it actually makes me feel motivated to get even more done. I'm sure you all feel the same way when it comes to school work ;) so when you finish with whatever needs to get done today sit back and relax and enjoy the weather outside while you still can!

Surfing

Surfing sounds fun and looks easy right? well think again! I surfed a few times when I was younger but it was easy to catch a wave when someone was there helping me. So I thought now I'm much older and stronger and I have a board that I barely use, so I'm gonna go to the beach and try it again (not to mention that I live in Jersey and haven't gone in the ocean all summer). I waxed up the board and went to Manasquan where there is a surfing beach. I paddled out and was winded immediately haha I was burnt out after 5 minutes. Not to mention trying to balance myself on the board. It's a waiting game when trying to catch a good wave. There were a few times when I almost caught one but I never did. I didn't mind cuz I still had fun! I don't really have a moral to this story except that I had fun doing something I'm not that good at. And I do look forward to trying it again next year haha but in the mean time I'll just be sore while enjoying my Monday off from work.

Oh how emotion moves us

It's odd how emotion can change us so much physically. Whether happy or sad somehow it affects our abilities. Many many many years ago I was devastated over a girl (surprise surprise) and just was NOT hungry. But that didn't last long for fatty over here ha. But what made me realize how crazy emotion is, is really a positive situation: singing. I can squeeze out a few notes vocally, but we all have our off days. Most of the time it is because I don't warm up, or I'm focusing too much on my key. Last night me and the guys went to see Underoath (incredible as expected). The music just grabbed me and I just couldn't control myself singing every song. Without any vocal warmups I was actually hitting everything. I really couldn't believe it, but it was definitely all emotion that gave me the physical ability to belt all the notes. But this goes a long way for everything. Anger can affect our strength, love can affect our judgement and so many other emotions change us as well. Although, it's probably just in our head. Because our feelings cause us to focus on something else, maybe that ability is just at its fullest potential.

Rabbis With Guns wtf

I'm watching Fox right now and just watched those typical news plugs saying some random shit like "Your next trip to the salad bar could be your last." Ok that's a little overboard, and it's from Family Guy. Usually they're a little realistic, but for the first time it was a Family Guy moment. And I quote "Why Rabbi's are being trained with guns, next at 10." Really? Rabbi's with guns? I guess that's what you call marketing. It makes you wonder and may even cause you to watch it. Apparently the Muslim Jihad has brought them towards this. Then again, seeing the lengths that they go to, I'd probably train myself for that as well. Sex Simulator for Kids!!

No it's not what you think, but now you have kids reenact their birth! Once again, kidding, but I wonder what is going on with the creators of some kids' toys like this one. Is is some sick joke because kids will NEVER see it until they're older? Or do they just not realize it? And what about all of those sexual innuendos and secrets in Disney movies? I've never noticed any of them, but have always heard this and that. Man, people are fucked up, or just stupid. Vegetarians, I Salute You

I always understood what animal rights activists were fighting for and for the msot part I could agree with them. However, some of them go too far and become too pretentious for my liking. Also, it becomes to preachy and annoying. Don't get me wrong they should spread their ideas, but they should just put it out there for peopel to see and not rub it in everyone's faces. In fact by them just putting it out there and NOT pushing their ideals I've become more influenced to maybe cut down on meats and other animal related foods. This video is one I came across. A New Month

Yes, it's finally September. Well I really wasn't waiting for anything this month but I always feel different when a new month arrives. It's almost as if the first day isn't real to me because soon I'll wake up and it'll be the 15th of the month and then I'll think "Wow it's almost over already!" Yes, I know, that's a totally different topic right there. I think most things I write about in this blog have that recurring theme of time disappearing. That's a thought that typically runs through my head a lot. I know most people probably agree with me on time running away, but I look to use more recurring themes through out this blog. Maybe you'll see some more of them soon and who knows? You might just learn something :) I know I learn something new everyday. But on the other hand we shall see what September will bring. And I agree with Ryan on the last post, it has been a beautiful day today here in Jersey

Fuuuckk yeeess

I don't want to speak too soon, but peace out sweating. I can't tell you how great it felt to walk otuside this morning and actually be cold. Summer was only good for one thing, no school. Now that that doesn't matter for me, it's just another season, but hot as hell. Trust me it's better to be too cold than too hot. If you're in public and you're cold you can just add another layer. However, if it's too hot, you can't get naked in public. Even then you may still be sweating balls. Something about fall and winter is so solemn. I also feel more productive in the colder seasons. When you're too hot you just feel lazy, sitting there sweating in from of a fan like the cartoons. When I'm cold though I feel like getting up and moving around to get my blood flowing so I'm not so cold. Last and most important, it's football season.

18 years later . . .

June 10, 1991 an 11 year old girl is abducted at her bus stop in front of her house by two suspects in a gray sedan. Phillip Garrido was finally found and Jaycee Dugard (victim) at 29 years old is finally free. She was gone for 18 years and the authorities were stumped. I beg to differ, stumped? I'd just say doing shitty work. Garrido was ON PAROLE while this happened and being monitored AS A RAPIST. Really? Are you fucking kidding me? Shouldn't the parole officer look for anything suspicious during that time? Shouldn't he/she have had a closer eye on things? And Jaycee, the victim, was not found by the parole officer after so many years, but on the Berkeley campus by a security officer. I'm pretty sure that parole officers have a better job with a bigger salary than a security guard for a reason. I'm not disrespecting security guards at all, hell I'm technically one myself. But in the realistic scope of things a security guard does not need as many qualifications as a parole officer. For 18 years, the parole officer never suspected anything. This is outright ridiculous and honestly pisses me off. Seeing people in higher positions not doing their jobs in such a dire situation. She lost 18 years of her life and her parents split up because of the grief it caused them. Here's the article from abc: http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=8426124

Be Careful What You Tweet For

Yes, as usual we aren't safe anywhere. Even in the secluded west bumblefuck region of (enter state here). It is all thanks to the digital age, and of course the narcissistic nature of the world. Yea, I'm talking to almost everyone, it just enthralls you to have everyone know how trashed you were every night this week and that you're life is one big party. Don't get me wrong I enjoy my fair share of partying as well, but updating every second of your life on facebook and twitter is just a little, eh. I mean I've also actually heard people say "let's remember to take pictures for facebook!" How about taking pictures for memories? Once again though I'm going off topic. This obsession with the want for the world to know your business is just increasing your chances of some sort of criminal activity against you. You want to share that you're having a great time in the Bahamas? Go ahead, when that random scumbag friend sees it, don't be too surprised when you're robbed. Okay, so the chances are somewhat minimal, but compared to the pre-internet world, a stranger would have no idea when you're not home and possibly even your address. Did I mention the random guys talking with little girls who are actually sex offenders? No I did not. This world if full of fucked up people who can easily lie about who they are just by typing. You never know who is watching you, now you may never know who's watching you behind a computer screen.

"pffff three packs a day? I'm up to a carton, I'm gonna be just like cancer!"
"But no one likes cancer."
"Yah, but at least everyone will know me."
